2. How to use the books in this course

As mentioned on the home page of the course, there are 6 eBooks in total that you will need to complete before being able to attempt the exam. This book is the first book. You will have already been using the little blue arrows to navigate through the chapters and pages of the book.

Tip: When you are inside an eBook, you may want to leave and return to the course's home page. The easiest way to return to the home page of the course is to follow the 'bread crumbs' (as seen above) at the top of the screen back to the course page. To get back to the home page of the course, click on the 'Intro to Emergency Management' crumb.

When you get to the last page of any of the books, you will see a blue arrow pointing up has been added to the right of the screen. This arrow will take you back to the home page of the course.

2.1. Module and session activities

Each section of the course consists of an eBook and a variety of activities within the books. You will need to review the eBook and complete the activities within it to have the section marked as complete (introduction, modules, conclusion) and be able to access the next section.

Massey blue lightbulbTip: To the right of each section of the course, you will see a little box that must be marked as complete to be eligible to write the completion certificate exam.
If the box looks like this,   you have completed the section and will have access to the next section.
If the box looks like this, you have not completed the section and will not  have access to the next section.

When you have completed all the course sections, you will have the opportunity to pay for and complete the certificate of achievement exam.

2.2. Badges

This course uses badges to track your progress during and after the course.

There is one badge for each of the content modules (1-4).

Your aim is to try to gather all the badges to receive the final MOOC Master badge as seen below.

Tip: You will receive a notification  (top right of your screen) indicating that you received a new badge once you complete each module (1-4).

You can access your badges at any time by expanding the navigation menu on the left of your screen and clicking on 'badges'. All your badges you receive from this and other courses will be listed there.

3. End of Introduction

Congratulations!
