Response Challenges

The most serious hazards faced by our community would be tsunami and a high concentration of high hazard facilities within a small radius with neighbouring residential areas.

Response to tsunami - EOC would activate, public alerting & messaging would be prioritised, CDC/CLC centres would stand up to receive those evacuated.  Welfare function would initiate all functions to support the wellbeing of the evacuated community.  Building services would be requested to conduct rapid building assessments once deemed safe to do so.

Issues to address from response would be displaced people with nowhere to go, homeless people who can not be located/accounted for.  Supporting those displaced to engaged support from relevant government organisations, ie. MSD for housing & food, DHB for psychosocial support.  Support for those to engage with insurers, locate family. etc.
